Cookie Policy
Every cookie and storage key this website uses, what it does, how long it lasts, the legal basis for it, and how to change your preferences at any time.
Last updated: 15 September 2026 · Effective date: 1 October 2026 · Version 3.0
This Cookie Policy explains how Witty Content Writers uses cookies and similar technologies on https://wittycontentwriters.com, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
When you first visit the site you are shown a cookie notice. Optional cookies are not set until you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over time. Similar technologies include local storage (which stores data in your browser without sending it to a server), session storage, pixels and software development kits.
First-party cookies are set by this website. Third-party cookies are set by another domain, such as an analytics or video provider. Session cookies expire when you close your browser; persistent cookies remain for a defined period.
2. The categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always on)
Required for the website to function. They cannot be switched off in our system, and they do not require consent because the site cannot be provided without them.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| wcw_cookie_consent | First party (local storage) | Remembers your cookie preference so the notice is not shown repeatedly | 12 months |
| wcw_lead | First party (session storage) | Temporarily stores the name submitted in the contact form so the confirmation page can greet you | Until the browser tab is closed |
| __cf_bm / security tokens | Hosting & CDN provider | Distinguishes humans from bots and protects against abuse | Up to 30 minutes |
2.2 Analytics (optional)
Set only after you accept. They help us understand which pages are useful, where visitors drop off, and which guides deserve updating. Data is aggregated and we do not use it to identify individuals.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users | 13 months |
| _ga_<id> | Google Analytics | Maintains session state | 13 months |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users over 24 hours | 24 hours |
2.3 Functional (optional)
Remember choices you make, such as a selected filter or a dismissed message. Declining them means the site still works but may feel less convenient.
2.4 Advertising cookies
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not permit third parties to use this site to build advertising profiles. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated and consent re-requested before any such cookie is set.
3. Consent and legal basis
Strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a secure, functioning website. All other cookies are set only with your consent, collected through the cookie notice, in line with the ePrivacy Directive, the GDPR and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
Your consent choice is recorded with a timestamp so we can demonstrate compliance, and is requested again after 12 months, or sooner if our cookie inventory changes materially.
4. How to manage cookies
4.1 On this site
Use the cookie notice to accept all or essential only. To change your decision later, clear this site's data in your browser settings; the notice will appear again on your next visit.
4.2 In your browser
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking all cookies may break parts of this and other websites. Most browsers also offer a private browsing mode that discards cookies when the window closes.
4.3 Opting out of analytics specifically
You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or simply choose “Essential only” in our notice. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals where your browser sends them.
5. Third-party content
Pages that embed third-party content (for example a video or a social post) may allow that provider to set cookies when the content loads. We keep embedded content to a minimum and load fonts, scripts and stylesheets from our own server rather than from third-party networks, precisely to reduce this.
Links to external sites are outside our control; those sites set cookies under their own policies.
6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
There is still no agreed standard for how websites should respond to Do Not Track headers, so we do not rely on them. We do honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals: where your browser sends GPC, optional analytics cookies are not set and your preference is recorded as “essential only”.
7. Changes to this policy
We review the cookie inventory at least twice a year and after any change to the website's technology. Material changes are announced through the cookie notice and require fresh consent. The version and date at the top of this page always reflect the current inventory.
